More information about the video content bellow: 1. Burkina was home to the ill-fated revolutionary Thomas Sankara, who as president alienated the French by calling them neo-colonialists, told the country’s creditors he wouldn’t pay them, slated African leaders for their corruption, and practiced what he preached. Blaise Compaoré led a coup against Sankara in 1987, and he has been in power ever since. His coup came as a shock because Compaoré was a trusted ally of Sankara’s. Sankara was assassinated during Compaoré’s coup. 2. Capital of Burkina Faso is Ouagadougou. Written as “Wogodogo” in the Mòoré dialect, it literally means “You are welcome here at home with us”. Known in colonial times as Upper Volta, Burkina Faso means ‘Land of the Honourable People.’ 3. The country has arguably the world’s best place names. Its capital – one of the oldest cities on Earth – is Ouagadougou. Leafy Bobo-Dioulasso is the second city. It also boasts the desert market town of Gorom-Gorom (so good they named it twice), Bouroum-Bouroum (ditto), Fada N’Gourma, Tin-Akof, Niangoloko and, er, Rambo. 4. The ‘W’ park spans across three countries (Benin, Burkina Faso and Niger). Its unusual name stems from the double bend in the Niger river on its northeastern side (like an upturned ‘W’). Following years of neglect, the park received 20 million Euros in EU funding. Now the park’s savannah woodland is home to over 30 species of mammal and 350 species of bird. 5. Burkina Faso is home to 60 different ethnic groups, each with their own variety of folk music. Burkina Faso is a leader in African art and culture and hosts the largest craft market in Africa. The Bobo, one of the ethnic groups in Burkina Faso make large butterfly masks which are used to invoke the deity Do in fertility ceremonies. The Mossi are known for their antelope masks. The Lobi carve wood. 6. Like all of the west of Africa, Burkina Faso was populated early, notably by hunter-gatherers in the northwestern part of the country (14,000 to 5000 BC), and whose tools (scrapers, chisels and arrowheads) were discovered in 1973. Settlements appeared between 3600 and 2600 BC with farmers, the traces of whose structures leave the impression of relatively permanent buildings. 7. Captain Paul Voulet, who led the French expedition, was a real-life Kurtz figure, who stuck victims’ heads on poles, roasted children over fires, and strung up soldiers who displeased him at a height where their feet could be reached by hyenas’ hungry jaws. When his superiors tried to rein him in, he told his troops he was no longer French but a “black chief,” who would found his own empire. After he was killed, the French, embarrassed that their civilising mission in their colonies had gone awry, attributed Voulet’s activities to the maddening heat of Africa. Wide shot scene, protesters, tear gas, barrier, Israeli soldiers in background STORYLINE About 100 Israeli settlers scuffled with Palestinians on Friday in the West Bank village of Burin, as they demonstrated against Israel's policy of restricting access to their land. The Palestinians said they were praying on their lands near the Jewish settlement of Bracha when the settlers threatened them with weapons, leading to a violent scuffle between the Israeli settlers, and the Palestinians and peace activists who were with them. Israeli soldiers on site fired gas and stun grenades to break up the scuffle, but no injuries were reported. Burin's farmers can only reach lands near the settlements of Yitzhar and Bracha with special coordination from security forces. Farmers say that they're allowed to visit those areas only twice a year, for planting and harvesting, and that they need more access to carry out essential maintenance, such as hanging traps for olive flies, pruning branches and clearing underbrush. Israel's Civil Administration, the branch of the military dealing with the Palestinians' day-to-day life, denied any quota on visits, but a senior official said the aim was to keep settlers and farmers away from each other. Also on Friday, Israeli troops scuffled with Palestinians and peace activists during their regular Friday protest against Israel's so-called "separation barrier" in the West Bank town of Bilin. Troops used tear gas to disperse protesters throwing stones. Palestinians have been staging weekly demonstrations to protest the barrier's route, which crosses through several Palestinian villages and cuts farmers off from hundreds of acres of their agricultural land. Watch the full documentary film, Isolated Amazon Tribes: Xingu Indians Of The Amazon, shows you contact with the an isolated tribe along the Xingu River. You will see ceremonies such as the Yamurikuma, Quarup, and many more. The Amazon Rainforest, also known in English as Amazonia or the Amazon Jungle, habitat to approximately one-third of all animal species in the world and isolated/uncontacted tribes such as the Xingu Peoples. Xingu Peoples: Tribe Information Xingu peoples are indigenous peoples of Brazil living near the Xingu River. They have many cultural similarities despite their different ethnologies. Xingu people represent fifteen tribes and all four of Brazil's indigenous language groups, but they share similar belief systems, rituals and ceremonies. Precolumbian History The Upper Xingu region was heavily populated prior to European and African contact. Densely populated settlements developed from 1200 to 1600 CE. Ancient roads and bridges linked communities were often surrounded by ditches or moats. The villages were pre-planned and featured circular plazas. Archaeologists have unearthed 19 villages so far. Post contact history Kuikuro oral history says European slavers arrived in the Xingu region around 1750. Xinuguano population was estimated in the tens of thousands but was dramatically reduced by diseases and slavery by Europeans. In the centuries since the penetration of the Europeans into South America, the Xingu fled from different regions to escape modernization and cultural assimilation. Nonetheless settlers made it up as far as the upper run of the Rio Xingu. By the end of the 19th century, about 3,000 natives lived at the Alto Xingu, where their current political status has kept them protected against European intruders. By the mid twentieth century this number had been reduced by foreign epidemic diseases such as flu, measles, smallpox and malaria to less than 1,000. Only an estimated 500 Xingu peoples were alive in the 1950s. The Brazilian Villas-Bôas brothers visited the area beginning in 1946, and pushed for the creation of the Parque Indígena do Xingu, eventually established in 1961. Their story is told in a film, Xingu. The number of Xingu living there in 32 settlements has risen again to over 3000 inhabitants, half of them younger than 15 years. The Xingu living in this region have similar habits and social systems, despite different languages. Specifically, they consist of the following peoples: the Aweti, Kalapalo, Kamaiurá, Kayapó, Kuikuro, Matipu, Mehinako, Nahukuá, Suyá, Trumai, Wauja and Yawalapiti. Xingu River Description: The Xingu River (Portuguese: Rio Xingu) is a 1,640 km (1,019 mi) river in north Brazil. It is a southeast tributary of the Amazon River. The first Indian Park in Brazil was created in the river basin by the Brazilian government in the early 1960s. This park marks the first indigenous territory recognized by the Brazilian government and it was the world's largest indigenous reserve on the date of its creation. Currently, fourteen tribes live on the reserve surviving with natural resources and extracting from the river most of what they need for food and water. The Brazilian government is building the Belo Monte Dam, which will be the world's third-largest hydroelectric dam, on the Lower Xingu. Construction of this dam is under legal challenge by environment and indigenous groups, who assert the dam would have negative environmental and social impacts along with reducing the flow by up to 80% along a 100 kilometres (62 mi) stretch known as the "Big Bend" (Volta Grande). More than 450 fish species have been documented in the Xingu River Basin and it is estimated that the total is around 600 fish species, including many endemics. In the last 5 years alone, 21 new fish species have been described from the river. Many species are seriously threatened by the dam, including at least 26 fish species that are entirely restricted to the lower Xingu. More On Isolated Amazon Tribes 2015: In this series you will witness contact with an isolated Xingu Peoples/ Tribe. The Xingu people are a native tribe on the Xingu River, Brazil.

Be with us at http://helptocure.jdrftype1.com Insulin is a hormone our body makes. It is made by beta cells in the pancreas. Insulin's main job is to move glucose from our bloodstream into the body's cells to make energy. It keeps our blood glucose levels within the normal range. If you have insufficient insulin, the glucose stays in your bloodstream, reducing the amount of energy made in your body. With type 1 diabetes, the body does not make insulin and has to rely on insulin being injected regularly throughout the day to stay alive. With type 2 diabetes, the body does not make enough insulin, or the insulin that is made does not work well. Injecting insulin is much easier than most people imagine. Many different insulin injection devices are available. The main choices are syringes, insulin pens and insulin pumps. Clinicians usually recommend rotating injection sites to minimize tissue irritation. When you start using insulin it is important to have a review by an accredited practicing dietitian to understand how carbohydrates and insulin work together. Keeping a written record of your blood glucose levels helps you and your healthcare professional to know when your insulin dosage needs adjustment. Type 1 diabetes (Juvenile Diabetes) is usually diagnosed in children and young adults, and was previously known as juvenile diabetes. Only 5% of people with diabetes have this form of the disease. In type 1 diabetes, the body does not produce insulin. The body breaks down the sugars and starches you eat into a simple sugar called glucose, which it uses for energy. Insulin is a hormone that the body needs to get glucose from the bloodstream into the cells of the body. With the help of insulin therapy and other treatments, even young children can learn to manage their condition and live long, healthy lives. Travel video about the Mittel Rhein Boat Tour in Germany. Our journey begins in Koblenz. In around 1000 A.D. a castle was built on a knoll on the east bank of the Rhine and Castle Ehrenbreitstein gradually developed. Europe’s second largest fortress was given its appearance as we see it today, between 1817 and 1828. From the Middle Ages to the late eighteenth century, Koblenz was the residence of the powerful archbishops of Trier and in 1794 it was taken over by France and in 1815, by Prussia. Following the Rhine, our journey leads to Boppard where town houses, stately homes and churches form the romantic old town. After the invasion of the Alemanni, a city wall was built in order to protect what was a toll castle and today the town has developed into an attractive tourist destination surrounded by woods and vineyards. We pass by a high rock on a sharp bend where the Rhine is barely a hundred and thirteen metres wide. Legend tells of a beautiful mermaid, Loreley , who enchanted and distracted sailors with her singing in order that their boats would be destroyed on the rocks. Soon, the river becomes more tranquil. Slowly the craggy slopes change to vineyards and the river valley widens. Bacharach nestles in the confluence of the Steeger Valley, into the extensive Rhine Valley, protected by a sturdy wall. Above the town is the Stahleck Fortress that was first recorded in 1095 and became the residence of the Count Of Palatine On The Rhine, in 1142. The conclusion of our journey, Rüdesheim is a picturesque town that boasts more visitors than residents, its sunny location making it ideal for viticulture. A mediaeval church, wooden buildings and stately homes, and the famous Drosselgasse, characterise the city. The Middle Rhine Valley reflects the history of Europe. With cultural monuments and cultivated countryside, crowded settlements along narrow banks and various noble castles situated on rocky ledges, it is a reflection of the romantic history of times gone by. -------------- Watch more travel videos ► http://goo.gl/HYQdhg Join us.
